Working With You

People that access Champions Career Centre services are persons with a disability seeking career development or employment support and direction.  Services are provided to participants with a range of documented disabilities, both visible and non-visible.

Champions works toward meeting the employment needs of participants presenting disability challenges such as: developmental, mental health, brain-injury, physical and mobility impairments and sensory.  Services are also available to those with learning disabilities, fetal alcohol syndrome and hearing impairments.  Partnerships have been initiated to address specific needs of disabled persons from varied cultural backgrounds such as immigrants and Aboriginals.

Champions' range of services include: individualized assessment, collaborative employment Action Plan, on-site resource centre, career planning, acquisition of employability and employment skills through individual and workshop formats, supported job search, employment placement, education/training placement, and community support services.  Follow-up support is maintained through monthly contact throughout the 180-day period with additional job coaching, personal support, Disability Related Employment Supports ("DRES") (alt-8) or adaptive technology supports as required.

Please refer to our Eligibility page (alt-9) for information about accessing services at Champions.

The Case Management model is applied to all steps of the service delivery to ensure timely and individualized response to client need.  Length of individual client intervention will vary based upon specific client need, but will not exceed six months (26 weeks) in duration.

Client status as 'Ready, Willing and Able' to engage the Champions' employment service is not treated as a single, one-time event, but rather as an on-going formative step frequently revisited to verify level of participation.  Criteria are continuously refreshed at the commencement of each service step to ensure goal commitment and motivation.

We wish to welcome you to our organization and so your attendance at an Orientation (alt-0) is necessary in order to proceed with services.  After attending an Orientation (alt-0), you will decide your next step.

The three main options for a person wishing to participate in services at Champions Career Centre are: Full (alt-W); Self-Directed (alt-X); and, Fast Track (alt-Y).
