I have long been interested in helping great people and great organizations connect and therefore it was a natural fit for me to get involved with Champions Career Centre. I enjoy working with a dedicated team of volunteers and staff to make Calgary a more open and inclusive community. I believe embracing and leveraging our individual differences is what leads to successful businesses, interesting workplaces and sustainable communities.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, a Human Resources certificate and a Public Relations certificate I vow to never stop learning and opening myself to new challenges and passions. I have served as a member of the Champions Board of Directors since 2012.

I practiced as a specialist in Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for 35 years. During this time I had the pleasure of working with the team at Champions in referring some of my patients who were seeking employment. I fully support the great work being done at Champions to assist persons with disabilities to obtain and maintain meaningful employment. I am now retired as a Professor Emeritus with the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine and am still involved in undergraduate teaching, as well as residency education.

I joined the Champions Board of Directors as I saw this as a wonderful opportunity for me to further support and give back to the organization. My wife, Diane and I also enjoy travelling, reading, walking, hiking, gardening and keeping in touch with our grandsons.

I truly believe that everyone has the right to work. I joined the Board of Champions back in the end of the year in 2014 and in this time have witnessed many success stories from clients of how Champions Career Centre has changed their lives by giving them hope, respect and new job skills that ultimately led to work. Their stories are amazing and inspiring. And with that I’m truly honored to be part of an organization that has such passion, drive and tireless energy to empower people to find employment.

I will use my extensive marketing experience and degree in Bachelor of Applied Arts to help Champions Career Centre continue to be successful.

I am a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (UK) and Certified Management Accountant and immigrated to Canada in 1995. All of my finance, accounting and leadership experience is with larger for-profit companies.

I am aware of the significant job challenges that people with disabilities face. During my career in Canada, I can count on one hand the number of employee co-workers with a recognizable disability. I aim to help Champions achieve its mission in whatever way I can.
