Directed Employment / Training Services
Directed Service Option
The Directed range of services at Champions Career Centre includes involvement in the following defined steps:
- Orientation and intake - where information about the agency is provided and where eligibility is determined;
- Case Manager – where a workability assessment is completed and a collaborative action plan developed and where an active job search is done with the option for advice and direction; and,
- Follow-up and Support – where additional job coaching, personal support, or DisAbility Related Employment Supports ("DRES") applications are available for the 6-month period following. The Employment Retention Specialists (ERS) work with clients over the six months ensuring job retention and job satisfaction. The ERS team can/ may work with the employer to resolve issues (subject to client authorization).
Clients also have access to a barrier-free resource centre that includes a library, computer lab with assistive technology, and the use of phones, fax, TTY, and printer.
The Case Management model is applied to all steps of the service delivery to ensure timely and individualized response to client need. Case Management principles require that the Case Manager is obliged to access both internal resources and the external resources to best meet the client’s stated needs.
An Employment Retention Specialist builds relationships with potential employers on a one to one basis and through Employer Meet and Greet sessions.
All services are explained in detail at the Orientation session held every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Please contact Champions reception to book your session at 403-265-5374.
