Champions hosts Special Group from Japan
Champions was pleased to host a group of managers from a disability agency in Japan. Associates of SELP (Support of Employment, Living and Participation) – http://www.selpjapan.net/ -- are touring agencies in Seattle, Calgary and Vancouver on a fact-finding-mission to understand how other agencies support people with disabilities.
The team from SELP sat in on one of our weekly orientation sessions with a group of perspective clients. Through the use of a Japanese translator, the orientation session gave them an overview of how we work with our clients, and the commitment the clients make in working with us. After the session, we discussed the specifics of how Champions works within the broader business community, and in conjunction with other agencies. SELP were also very forthcoming in how they work with their clients in Japan.
SELP is only in North America for 1 week, and we are honoured to be part of their visit. The group photo we took at the end of the session shows how quickly connections around the world can be made when we’re all working towards the same goal – the inclusion of people with disabilities.
