Debbie Wiebe, RSW, is the Manager of the Peer Options Program at the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region. Debbie founded this Program aimed at reducing isolation and increasing Community connections for those individuals managing mental health issues. As a social worker, Debbie utilizes a solution-focused approach to facilitate wellness through increased responsibility, self-esteem and healthy friendships.
Debbie identifies stigma as the greatest barrier, which faces those with this non-visible disability and has strived to increase community awareness through networking and education. For the past six years, Debbie has been innovative in leading the team to meet the growing demands of the health care system. As manager, Debbie is responsible for new funding initiatives, staff and volunteer supervision, program development, budgeting and daily service delivery.
